Editor review: Reviewer, 2010-08-02 06:36:00 This is a MP3 converter. It can convert, as a batch, a set of WAV, MP3, WMA and OGG files. Free MP3 Converter is a free yet fast audio converting utility. I t is able to convert WAV, MP3, OGG and WMA files to MP3 very quickly. What is interesting is that it can take advantage of the hyper threading technology and will work faster when such CPUs are available on your machine. It also uses the latest LAME MP3 encoder which is generally believed as the best MP3 encoder available. The program also converts the files directly without producing intermediate files so that that factor too contributes to its fast speed of conversion. It converts tracks in a batch. The interface has a log reporting that displays messages about the conversion of each file from the batch list. You are, thus, able to monitor exactly how the conversion is progressing. The same display also has a progress bar showing how far individual files in the batch are progressing as well as the progress of the batch. The main interface lets you create a batch of files. The Windows explorer like directory helps find the file/folder you are looking for. Selecting a folder loads all the files in it. Convert command is single click operation and clicking the same opens the above pop-up about progress of conversion. There is option dialog too where you could tweak sample rate, bit rate etc. for the kind of quality you want. For a free program, this is pretty sophisticated and I`d like to have it anyway!
